AceShowbiz - "Deadpool" has been banned from China due to its violence, nudity and graphic language. A source close to the decision at China Film Group tells The Hollywood Reporter that the reports are indeed accurate.
According to the site, China's censorship authorities often work with the Hollywood studios to create cleaned-up special cuts of R-rated movies like "Deadpool." However, sources claim it wasn't possible to excise the offending material without causing plot problems.
As China has no ratings system, the country's media regulator called the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) will make an up-down judgment on all movie imports, including the decision to approve or ban them for consumption by Chinese viewers of all ages.
Many observers, however, predicted that "Deadpool" would find a way into the China market because of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel comic book films, including "The Avengers", "Avengers: Age of Ultron", "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Ant-Man", have done huge business in China.
"Deadpool" starring %cRyan Reynolds%, %cT.J. Miller%, %cMorena Baccarin% and %cBrianna Hildebrand% is set to hit U.S. theaters on February 12, 2016.
