What NBC has in store following "The Wiz" massive success has finally been revealed. "We'll be bringing you Hairspray next December," The Peacock's chairman Robert Greenblatt announces the news at the 2016 Winter TCA Press Tour.

"The deals aren't closed yet," but Greenblatt confirms Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the masterminds behind "The Wiz", "Peter Pan Live!" and "The Sound of Music Live", will return. Meanwhile, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are tapped as the composers.

"That's all we have so far," the boss said of "Hairspray Live!" musical event. "They know what they're doing and we're really excited. That title seems really fun and I think it will be really great live."

The original "Hairspray" was a comedy movie created by John Waters in 1988. It went to Broadway in 2002 before getting a big-screen remake starring John Travolta, Zac Efron, and Amanda Bynes in 2007.
