Rupert Murdoch and Jerry Hall were engaged in Los Angeles over the weekend. The couple announced their engagement on on the Births, Marriages and Deaths page of The Times on Tuesday, January 12.

"Mr. Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger, are delighted to announce their engagement," read the announcement. The couple's spokesman added, "They have loved these past months together, are thrilled to be getting married and excited about their future."

Rupert and Jerry attended the Golden Globes Awards Gala together on Sunday, January 10. At the time, the pair were all smiles. The executive chairman of News Corporation, which owns The Times, wore a classic black suit paired with black sunglasses. His fiancee, meanwhile, donned a lacy, sequins black dress.

Rupert was introduced to Jerry in Australia last summer by his sisters and niece Penny Fowler. The couple went public with their relationship at the Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham back in October.

This will be Rupert's fourth marriage and the first official marriage for Jerry, who had an unofficial ceremony with Mick Jagger back in 1990. Jerry and Mick ended their 23-year relationship in 1999. They have four children together.
