'The 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far,' the singer says of the 'X' follow-up when announcing he's taking some time off to travel the world.

AceShowbiz - Following his super busy and successful years, Ed Sheeran is planning a very long holiday. The British redhead announced in an Instagram post that he's going spend most of 2016 staying away from social media to do some things he couldn't do when he was on tours.
"I'm taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while," he wrote in the message shared Sunday, December 13. "I've had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I'm taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed."
To help his fans deal with the upcoming Ed Sheeran-less months, the 24-year-old assured them that he'd return with a new album which he promised would best its two predecessors, 2014's "X" and 2011's "+".
"To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far," he continued. "See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing."
In addition to traveling, Sheeran will undergo a surgery during his downtime. Recently, he revealed that he damaged his ear drum when jumping off a yacht earlier this year. "I have to have an operation in January on my ear because I stupidly jumped off a yacht really high up and smashed it," he said.
