'Creed' Director Back in Negotiations to Direct 'Black Panther'

Now that he has the box office hit behind him, Ryan Coogler is considering taking Marvel's first black superhero film.

AceShowbiz - After successfully delivering "Creed" to the big screen, Ryan Coogler quickly became one of Hollywood's coveted young directors. The 29-year-old director is eyed to direct Marvel Studios' "Black Panther" which will feature the first black superhero.

Reports are circulating that Coogler is in negotiations stage to direct the film. He actually had talked with the studio back in fall but he felt like it was not for him and there was no follow-up. Now that "Creed" becomes a box office hit with a worldwide total of $51.9 million against a budget of $35 million, talks are in motion again.

Chadwick Boseman is starring as the Black Panther whose first look was recently debuted. Written by Joe Robert Cole, the film will tell the origin story of the royal leader of an African nation who is bestowed with super human powers. The character will make his first appearance in next year's "Captain America: Civil War".

"Black Panther" is scheduled to be released on November 3, 2017. Ava DuVernay and F. Gary Gray were previously considered for the helming job.
