Discussing his infamous VMA stage-crashing, the rapper reveals what he did when 'he p***ed every person off in the planet.'

AceShowbiz - Kanye West talked about what happened during the backlash in 2009 after he interrupted Taylor Swift's Best Female Video of the Year acceptance speech at the VMAs. Speaking at the Footwear News 29th Annual Achievement Awards where he received an award for Shoe of the Year, the rapper said he went into hiding during that moment and it ended up becoming his creative rebirth.
"After the infamous Taylor Swift moment, I sort of did a little self-exile, just to get away from paparazzi and to have people not, you know, just f***ing with me constantly," Kanye said during his acceptance speech. He globe-trotted with his creative director pal, Virgil Abloh, from Japan to Italy where they brainstormed ideas at the Fendi headquarters but ended up getting kicked out for playing music too loud.
"I went to Hawaii and took all the creative energy that I wanted to express and we put it into an album called My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," he added. "We have all these rules of what people can do in the studio, and I'm constantly concerned about what I'm wearing. But, it's hard to really get fresh in Hawaii because you can't layer up and everything."
"We'd visit Stockholm on the weekends. That was in my single days. It was fun. It wasn't too bad. It wasn't as miserable experience as some might think. My exile was pretty fun and stuff: 'What does Kanye do when he p***ed every person off in the planet? He goes Stockholm and dances,' " the hip-hop star joked.
The rapper went on a 20-minute rant on the stage. "I have absolutely no plans for what I'm going to say," he began his speech. "So this could land completely wrong. But it doesn't really f**king matter, does it? If you don't like 10-minute profanity-ridden speeches that end with a presidential bid, you can go to the bathroom."
Kanye also talked about his expecting wife Kim Kardashian and their growing family. "I'm waiting on my son to arrive any day now," the 38-year-old father proudly announced, "and I look at my daughter and I look at my wife and she's rich and I don't plan on being broke."
Towards the end, he jokingly said, "I'm trying to take it full 'Will Ferrell level drunk brother at the wedding' level. Have I reached that level yet? Have I ****** it up? Good. Here's to ****** everything up!"
