Christopher McQuarrie officially returns for the next installment of "Mission: Impossible" movie series. The director, who helmed "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation", took to Twitter to announce that he would direct "Mission: Impossible 6".

"Mission: Accepted #MI6," McQuarrie wrote on Twitter. He will direct the film and also write the screenplay. His decision to tackle the project makes McQuarrie the first director who returns for a second movie in the franchise's history.

McQuarrie will also produce alongside J.J. Abrams, David Ellison (Skydance), Dana Goldberg and Tom Cruise, who will reprise his role as agent Ethan Hunt.
