'The Leftovers' actor was said telling extras on the set of his HBO show that 9/11 was the best thing to happen to NYC.

AceShowbiz - Justin Theroux won't stay quiet about the allegations that he made a joke at the expense of the 9/11 victims. The actor denied through his representative that he said the terrorism attack was the best thing to happen to New Yorkers.
The original report, coming from Page Six, said Theroux was overheard saying in front of "The Leftovers" extras, "9/11 was the best thing that happened to Nyers". He reportedly went on telling a story about getting a deal on rent before saying "at the end of the process, the landlord was so mad, they threw the keys at him".
Theroux, who is married to Jennifer Aniston, said via his rep, "As a New Yorker and someone who has lived downtown for over 20 years, Justin would not make jest of 9/11."
The 2001 tragedy continues to be a sensitive issue to joke on. A few months ago, comedian Steve Rannazzisi came under fire for making up a story that he escaped from the World Trade Center during the crisis. He later told Howard Stern in October, "I know what I did was terrible, and I know that I hurt a lot of people - people that lost people, people that helped people survive."
