AceShowbiz - John Stamos has escaped jail time after his lawyer pleaded no contest to DUI on his behalf on Tuesday, November 24. Instead, the "Grandfathered" star was sentenced to three years of probation, counseling sessions and 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Stamos was arrested in June while driving on Beverly Drive and South Santa Monica Boulevard. Police received calls about a possible drunk driver in the area. Stamos, who was alone in his vehicle at that time, was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical check up. Illegal chemicals, reportedly date rape drug GHB, were later found in his system.
"Thanks to everyone for their love & support. I'm home & well. Very appreciative of the BHPD & Cedars for their care," Stamos tweeted after the arrest. The actor consequently checked into rehab for substance abuse a month later and left the place a short while later to film "Fuller House". He revealed to Details magazine in September his reasons of using drugs. "I've had a rough year with my mom dying, so it all came to a head, and it was a turning point," he said.
