Following director Guillermo del Toro's exit from "Justice League Dark" a.k.a. "Dark Universe", people wondered whether the movie would still happen. A report from Latino Review indicates that the movie may still be in the works as it mentions that the film is expanding its cast with Colin Farrell eyed to play John Constantine.

Before Farrell, Ewan McGregor was previously offered the role. Warner Bros. reportedly pursues Ron Perlman to take the role of Swamp Thing. It is also said that the studio is eyeing Monica Bellucci, who recently played one of the James Bond girls in "Spectre", to play sorceress Madame Xanadu. Moreover, the report suggests that the studio wants a hispanic or black actress for Zatanna and a comedic type for Deadman.

del Toro, who also wrote the screenplay of "Justice Legaue Dark", had to drop out of the project due to scheduling conflicts with the production of "Pacific Rim 2". However, the studio is still excited enough about his script and wants to make the project a priority. del Toro's script includes the titular team which members are Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan The Demon.

Scott Rudin is reportedly on board as producer. Filming is expected to start sometime next year.
