DRAMA

By the Sea

Release Date: November 13

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's chemistry couldn't go unnoticed in 2005's "Mr and Mrs Smith" and they're showing it again in "By the Sea" as a married couple, on- and off-screen. Filmed in August 2014 when Jolie and Pitt were newly married, this seemed to be an odd way to spend honeymoon. Still, viewers can expect to see the result of their great teamwork as Pitt couldn't help gushing about his wife's directorial skill. "It's surprising how much I enjoy the direction of my wife. She's decisive, incredibly intuitive, and might I say sexy at her post. I trust her with my life," Pitt said. Little is known about the plot except that it follows a couple attempting to repair their crumbling marriage as they travel to a quiet seaside resort. Jolie has described it as a complicated adult drama where things are often not what they seem.

Carol

Release Date: November 20

A romantic movie with a provocative twist is not for everybody, but an Oscar worthy performance by Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara as a lesbian couple is surely not to be missed. Based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith, Todd Hayes' "Carol" is set in the 1950s when same-sex relationship is still taboo. The story follows Therese Belivet (Mara), a shopgirl who strikes a relationship with Carol Aird (Blanchett), an older woman going through a difficult divorce. Their strong bond turns into romantic feelings, but their love comes with complicated consequences, particularly for Carol who is in custody battle with her estranged husband. Mara's acting was highly praised at Cannes and resulted in Best Actress Award for her, while the movie itself was nominated for Palme d'Or.

Creed

Release Date: November 25

Almost a decade after the sixth and last movie in the "Rocky" series, Rocky Balboa is back on the silver screen. Sylvester Stallone reprises his role as the fictional boxer, but he's not going to enter the ring. Instead, he passes the torch to Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan), being a trainer to his old foe's son who fights his way to a world title. Adonis' journey to victory is sure to be an emotional one, while Rocky gets his own share of the spotlight as he is faced with his mortality. A rising star following his portrayal of Oscar Grant in critically acclaimed "Fruitvale Station" (2013), Jordan trained hard to deliver a convincing performance as a boxer.

Victor Frankenstein

Release Date: November 25

Halloween may be over but you still can get the thrill when watching horror films like "Victor Frankenstein". Based on 1818's popular novel "Frankenstein", it stars James McAvoy as the titular scientist and Daniel Radcliffe as his loyal assistant Igor Strausman. To make it different from previous adaptations of the tale, this upcoming film tells the story from Igor's perspective and chronicles his relationship with the crazy scientist experimenting on mortality. When the experiments of the radical scientist go too far, only Igor can handle him and save him from a monstrous creature he creates. Expect for a surprise as Radcliffe has revealed that it will offer a new twist on the original work.
