Chris Rock received mixed receptions after making a joke about Lamar Odom. "Here's to Lamar Odom on being the first guy in history to have coke and hookers save his marriage," the comedian posted on Twitter. "Stay strong Lamar," he added.

Many criticized him for the punch line, saying it was too soon. Still, there were some who approved and laughed at the joke. Others were conflicted as a comment read, "Not sure if I should consider this inappropriate or hail you as a God damn genius."

Lamar Odom was hospitalized in Las Vegas after found unconscious at a brothel. He has since been transferred to Los Angeles. Khloe Kardashian has been staying by his side since he was in coma. The couple recently called off their divorce.

Chris Rock made the joke after he was announced as a host for the upcoming 88th annual Academy Awards. The 2016 Oscar will mark his second hosting gig at the movie's biggest night. He previously served as an Oscar emcee in 2005.
