The director hinted that the sci-fi movie might get more than one sequels and that Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard was a replicant after all.

AceShowbiz - Everytime director Ridley Scott gets involved in an interview, there will always be questions about his upcoming projects "Alien: Paradise Lost" and the untitled Blade Runner project. Speaking to Yahoo! Movies about his astronaut movie "The Martian", Scott hinted that "Blade Runner" might get more than one sequels and that Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard was a replicant.

The director was asked whether he would make "Blade Runner" become like "Prometheus", which might have three more sequels. "Everyone else is, so why not? I love to work," Scott said. "The French say, 'Work to live,' and I live to work. I'm very lucky to have a job that I adore. All my kids do the same thing. Some of it's trying, but it's like being in professional sport. It's so competitive [that] you better keep bouncing the ball. You can't rest," he added.

Scott also provided some information about Ford's character. "Of course he's a bloody Replicant! He's going to have to admit it," he revealed. The fact that Ford would reprise his role in the upcoming movie sparks curiosity, because the lifetime of a replicant is usually not more than four years. Considering that it's been more than three decades since the first film was released, the upcoming movie has to explain how Deckard has survived so long.

"I'm not going to tell you. You'll have to see the story. It'll all make sense," the director said, declining to reveal any further. However, he did share about the time setting. "It was 2017, so coming back it'll be 2047, roughly. As young as you can play Ryan Gosling. He's 34, but he looks 27 when he's doing his push-ups. So maybe 2050," Scott revealed.

The "Blade Runner" sequel is scheduled to start principal photography in the summer of 2016. Gosling is currently in talks for a lead character. Dennis Villeneuve will direct the film with Scott involved as producer.
