In her tweets, Wood admitted she 'had to go through the same panic and shame and depression a lot of people in the LGBT community go through.'

AceShowbiz - Coming out as a bisexual in 2011, Evan Rachel Wood took to Twitter on Thursday, Sept. 17 to open up about her bisexuality and depression to raise awareness. She wrote the moving tweets after being questioned by a follower if she was still bisexual following her 2014 split from ex-husband Jamie Bell. Her tweets were written days before Bisexual Awareness Week.

"I have battled with myself most of my life because I wasn't gay or straight enough. I used to think I would never be happy. #biphobia," Wood tweeted. "I had to go through the same panic and shame and depression a lot of people in the LGBT community go through but when I came out a new found shame took over. Bi-shame. Feeling like people are judging you all over again but for different reasons," continued the 28-year-old actress.

"A weight was lifted but not completely. I still feel like we have to constantly prove ourselves & our worthiness within the community," read her other tweet. "Point being, its ok. We do exist. Don't let anyone make you feel unworthy. No one knows your journey but you. #BisexualAwareness."
