The '24' vet will reportedly play a character who has a huge ego and is deeply focused on self-preservation.

AceShowbiz - "The Walking Dead" has cast "24" and "Nikita" alum Xander Berkeley in a major role. The name of his character is still kept under wraps, but according to TVLine his character is described as being narcissistic, having a huge ego and deeply focused on self-preservation.

Despite sharing the same characteristics as Negan, sources say Berkeley won't play the comic book villain. His character, moreover, is said "to relish the superiority that comes with being in control, but he plays it off with a car salesman-type charm."

Berkeley will make his first appearance on the hit drama during the second half of the sixth season. His deal reportedly includes a series-regular option for season 7.

Negan and Paul "Jesus" Monroe are two comic book characters who are heavily rumored to appear in season 6. On Tuesday, September 15, photos surfaced showing a mystery man dressing like Jesus on the set of the show. Sporting long locks, beard, a beanie and vest, he looks similar to the gay zombie-killer.

"The Walking Dead" season 6 kicks off Sunday, October 11 at 9 P.M. on AMC with a supersized, 90-minute episode. According to the official description, "season 6 starts with Alexandria's safety shattered by multiple threats. To make it, the people of Alexandria will need to catch up with our survivors' hardness while many of our survivors will need to take a step back from the violence and pragmatism they've needed to embrace. These reveals won't happen easily, or without conflict."

"Now Rick's group is fighting for something more than survival. They're fighting for their home, and they will defend that at any cost, against any threat, even if that threat comes from within."
