New pictures from "The Walking Dead" season 6 have landed online to tide fans over the show's return. Making their way out via various sites, most of them have a similar theme that hints at the characters' killer instinct.
In a photo released via PEOPLE, Daryl (Norman Reedus) is wiping fresh blood off his hand. Glenn (Steven Yeun) is loading his gun in another image released via Mashable. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) also has a gun and looks ready to use it in a picture released via TV Guide.
In another image from Entertainment Weekly, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is seen sitting pensively on a porch while holding his gun. Abraham (Michael Cudlitz), meanwhile, ponders on his weapon as some walkers are approaching in separate picture.
Carol (Melissa McBride) is staring at her knife in the kitchen, looking ready to kill in an image released via The Hollywood Reporter. Another photo features Michonne (Danai Gurira) standing near a wall where her katana is hung.
Speaking of her character's evolution, McBride says, "She's adaptable - and one of her weapons is adaptability." She also dishes on Carol's dual personality, "I think they're both equal sides of the same coin, and I think they're both as dangerous and both as necessary. Each one is necessary so far, they're both who she is. And each one is aware of the other. It's beautiful and complicated, but so simple. This is a tool. This is one of her weapons. It's the mask."
According to an official description by AMC, "season 6 starts with Alexandria's safety shattered by multiple threats. To make it, the people of Alexandria will need to catch up with our survivors' hardness while many of our survivors will need to take a step back from the violence and pragmatism they've needed to embrace. These reveals won't happen easily, or without conflict."
"Now Rick's group is fighting for something more than survival. They're fighting for their home, and they will defend that at any cost, against any threat, even if that threat comes from within."
"The Walking Dead" returns Sunday, October 11 at 9 P.M. on AMC.
