Rumors that Taylor Swift would make a cameo appearance as mutant Dazzler in upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" emerged when writer-producer Simon Kinberg was photographed with the "Bad Blood" singer alongside other cast members such as James McAvoy and Sophie Turner. While promoting "The Martian" at the Toronto International Film Festival, Kinberg shut down the rumors and also explained how the speculation popped out.

"No, there's nothing to it," Kinberg said. "I know where [the rumors] came from, because it's my fault." It turns out that Kinberg was a big fan of Swift. "It became for me, it was what I was listening to every morning to get sort of energized and I would listen to it on the set every day for 'Apocalypse'," he explained. When Swift's tour came to Montreal, where "Apocalypse" was being filmed, Kinberg, McAvoy, Turner, Nicholas Hoult and Rose Byrne were so excited and they didn't want to miss the concert.

When the photograph was taken, Kinberg was with some of the movie's cast members attending Swift's concert in Montreal. The songtress invited them afterwards and took a picture together. "So we went to the show, me and those people, and then she invited us to come back and meet her afterwards," Kinberg said. "It was just a photo backstage at the concert, and that was the only time we ever saw her. That's where that particular rumors came from."

While the rumors are clearly wrong, Kinberg admitted that he actually loved the idea of Swift appearing in the superhero movie. "After I saw those things I was like oh, that's kind of interesting, but no, we were actually just there for her concert," he said.

Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Olivia Munn, Oscar Isaac and Alexandra Shipp are other actors in the cast. Taking place a decade after "X-Men: Days of Future Past", the movie will be released in the U.S. on May 27, 2016.
