Tom Cruise is re-teaming with "Edge of Tomorrow" director Doug Liman to make a new sci-fi action movie titled "Luna Park". According to Variety, Tom is joining Doug to develop the film with an eye to star in it for Paramount.

The deal is reportedly still in early process and could go one way or the other depending on how the latest draft of the script comes out. However, sources say this is a good sign for the project that had been in development limbo.

"Luna Park" centers on a group of renegade employees who venture the moon to steal an energy source. The production date is yet to be announced as Tom begins shooting "Jack Reacher 2" this fall and is expected to film "Mission: Impossible 6" in summer 2016.

"Luna Park" has been a passion project for Doug for quite some time. The project was originally prepared to move forward in 2011 with actors like Chris Evans and Andrew Garfield circling leading roles. Paramount gave a greenlight to the project but later halted the production after co-financier Skydance Pictures bailed on it due to a budget which surpassing $100 million.

Tom and Doug have finished filming upcoming drug thriller flick "Mena" which is set to hit U.S. theaters on January 6, 2017.
