Neil Patrick Harris celebrated his first wedding anniversary to his husband David Burtka on Sunday, September 6. The "%Gone Girl%" actor took to Instagram to pay tribute to his husband with a sweet photo of them together.
The two were seen full of joy in the photo. Neil wore a white fitted shirt, black vest and bow tie while holding a microphone. He looked up at the sky and laughed hysterically as David leaned in and held onto his arms.
In a caption for the picture, Neil expressed his gratitude for marrying David. It read, "One year ago today I had the pleasure of marrying David Burtka. I'm so happy that I did - he's a truly wonderful man. Here's to many more laughs and adventures..!"
Neil started dating David in 2004. They announced their engagement in 2011 after the passage of the Marriage Equality Act in New York. At that time, Neil said they were engaged five years earlier but decided to keep it a secret.
The couple tied the knot in Italy last year. The "How I Met Your Mother" actor announced the exciting news via Twitter. He posted a photo of him and David in tuxedos facing each other. He captioned it, "Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in 'husband'. "
