The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star seems to confirm that he will appear in the sci-fi movie as villain and additionally reveals that the film will start shooting in March next year.

AceShowbiz - Rumors that Benicio Del Toro will be the villain in "Star Wars Episode VIII" are mounting. This time, it's Del Toro himself who adds fuel to the speculation on the villainous role.

In a recent interview with Spanish radio station Rac1 (via Star Wars Episode 7 News), Del Toro once again talked about the possibility of appearing in the sequel to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Del Toro was asked about his upcoming work schedule. The actor then said that he would be soon working on "Episode VIII" and added information about when the principal photography would commence. " 'Star Wars is coming up, we will see how that turns out. I think we start shooting in March," said Del Toro.

The reporter followed up by asking what his role would be, but Del Toro only gave few details about it. "Ehhh, the thing is, they don't let me talk too much about it. I'm like the villain. But we'll see," he said.

Back in July, Del Toro was reportedly eyed by Lucasfilm and Disney to fill a villainous role. Although his recent statement in the interview suggested that he was hesitant, it might still be an indication that he would be involved in the next chapter of the sci-fi movie franchise. It can mean that Del Toro will play a bad guy, but maybe not the primary antagonist.

There have also been rumors about various actresses who are in a contention to be the female lead in "Episode VIII". Among them are "Orphan Black" star Tatiana Maslany, Gina Rodriguez and Olivia Cooke.
