The first official image of "Assassin's Creed" has landed online, giving the first look at Michael Fassbender in the upcoming action movie. His hooded character, Callum Lynch, looks deadly with sharp weapons ready in both hands while giving unwavering glare.

Callum is a character specifically created for the film which is based on a popular Ubisoft video game of the same name. According to Yahoo! Movies which obtains the picture, it's not retelling any of the existing games, but rather introducing new characters into the same world.

Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.

The film is supported by Marion Cotillard, Fassbender's on-screen wife in "Macbeth", and Michael K. Williams, Fassbender's co-star in "12 Years a Slave". Filming will take place on locations in Malta, London, and Spain. It's scheduled to open in North American theaters on December 21, 2016.
