Along with pictures that unveil the key characters, details of the storyline are revealed ahead of the October 7 premiere.

AceShowbiz - The first official images from "American Horror Story: Hotel" are unleashed via Entertainment Weekly. They give a look at the new characters played by Lady GaGa, Matthew Bomer, Wes Bentley, Angela Bassett, Naomi Campbell, Kathy Bates, Finn Wittrock, Evan Peters, Max Greenfield, and Sarah Paulson.

The show is set in Hotel Cortez built in 1930 by the rich and charming but deeply psychotic James March (Peters). Bought in the present day by GaGa's Countess Elizabeth, the beautiful art-deco hotel is, in actuality, a labyrinthine structure built to hide March's murderous activities (think dead ends, secret rooms, endless shafts).

The Countess is described as "a glamorous but deadly creature who sustains on a healthy diet of sex and blood - she kills with her very fashionable but very sharp chainmail glove." The Mother Monster explains, "She's extremely strong. She's been through so much. It's kind of impossible for anything to penetrate her."

Despite the hunger for blood, Ryan Murphy doesn't like to call it vampirism. "I prefer the term 'ancient blood virus,' " the series creator explains. "It's really a form of hemophilia, in a way."

The Countess' insatiable sex drive leads to a love triangle with the similarly blood-hungry Donovan (Bomer) and the newly turned male model Tristan (Wittrock). "He's very interested in domesticity and sort of nesting and hunkering down and having her to himself every now and then, and that doesn't go over so well with her limitless hunger," Bomer says.

Donovan finds himself rebuffed when The Countess meets Tristan during a fashion show at the Cortez. "He's got an addictive personality," says Wittrock. "I think he's hypersexual also. It makes him a prime candidate for the Countess' charms and he is very willingly seduced and then turned by her."

Other characters include Bentley's LAPD detective who moves into the Cortez in order to investigate a series of murders perpetrated by the Ten Commandments Killer, and Bassett's Ramona Royale who is The Countess' scorned ex-lover.

The new season is scheduled to make its debut October 7 on FX. "I've just been weeping while I'm here because I have returned to something I've believed in so much, which is the art of darkness," GaGa says. "It's not something that everyone understands, but, for the people that do - Horror Story fans, my fans - there is a true connection between us, and it's a language within itself."
