Caitlyn Jenner Halloween Costume Triggers Social Media Outrage

Several Halloween costume retailers have come under fire following their offers of the 'I Am Cait' star's costume, inspired by her lingerie on Vanity Fair's cover, for the celebration.

AceShowbiz - Many people are clearly unhappy with several Halloween costume retailers' offers to sell Caitlyn Jenner costume, inspired by her lingerie on Vanity Fair's cover, for the celebration. Twitter users were out in full force criticizing the companies for the "transphobic" offers.

User @nutellaANDpizza posted a screenshot of the costume offer, complete with the price and available sizes. The screenshot came along with the caption, "Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costumes are disgusting. Trans people are not a costume for you to laugh at."

User @AskAQueerChick came with a harsh comment as saying, "If you're considering a transphobic Caitlyn Jenner costume for Halloween, try dressing up as Horrible Person In The Garbage instead." User @chescaleigh even said, "You have 2 whole months to come up with a Halloween costume that's not Caitlyn Jenner or Rachel Dolezal."

One of the companies, Spirit Halloween, denied the selling of the costume was to mock the "I Am Cait" star. "At Spirit Halloween, we create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes. We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that," said Lisa Barr, senior director of marketing at Spirit Halloween.

Activist Addison Vincent created a change.org petition asking the company to revoke their plan to sell the costume. She wrote, "We demand that you revoke your ideas and production of a Caitlyn Jenner costume for Halloween. With a reputation of sexist, racist, and culturally appropriative costumes, we are concerned that this costume will continue your oppressive tradition with a transphobic costume of Caitlyn Jenner."

While her costume is being sold, Caitlyn hasn't commented on the issue. The costume is currently still available in a number of online retailers. It is sold in different prices, ranging from $50 to $80.
