The actor who played Will Turner in the first three films is officially announced to reprise his role in the next one scheduled for a 2017 release.

AceShowbiz - Orlando Bloom is confirmed to return for the next "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie. The actor is set to reprise his role as Will Turner in the new installment, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" which is due Stateside on July 7, 2017.

Will Turner appeared in the first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" along with his love interest, Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), but the on-screen couple was sidelined in the last entry, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", in 2011.

Bloom's return to the franchise was announced at the Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim over the weekend, but there's no word on whether Knightley will also be back in the next film.

Bloom was not present at the fan-centric convention but his co-star, Johnny Depp, made a surprise appearance twice. He showed up Friday for Legend Award and returned Saturday in full Captain Jack Sparrow costume for the panel.

"Dead Men Tell No Tales" was filmed in Australia. Supported by Brenton Thwaites, Javier Bardem, and Geoffrey Rush among others, it will pit Sparrow against his old nemesis, Captain Salazar (Bardem), as he is searching for the legendary Trident of Poseidon.
