The 'Neighbors' actor is cast as 'a young rule-flouting hothead' who is trying to save the beach from environmental destruction.

AceShowbiz - Zac Efron is added to the cast ensemble of "Baywatch" movie, joining Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. "Welcoming my dude @ZacEfron to #BAYWATCH. Our movie will be big, fun and RATED R.. Like me when I drink," the wrestler-turned-actor tweeted.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the feature film will revolve around on a by-the-book and very serious lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon.
It's based on a classic TV series of the same name. The original beach lifeguard series starred David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. It's unclear if any of them will appear in the big-screen version.
Zac Efron was last seen in R-rated comedy "Neighbors" and is expected to return for the sequel. He will next star in "We Are Your Friends", "Dirty Grandpa", and "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates".
