The former 'Deadwood' actor is rumored to play a small yet important role in the upcoming new season of the HBO hit series.

AceShowbiz - "Game of Thrones" is adding Ian McShane for the upcoming new season. The former "Deadwood" actor is cast to play a mystery role. According to a scoop from Entertainment Weekly, his character will have a small amount of screen-time but play an important role.

The HBO show is currently entering season 6. "Seven seasons and out has never been the conversation. The question is how much beyond the seventh season we're going to do," HBO programming president Michael Lombardo recently said. "[Executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss] feel like there's two more years after six. I would always love for them to change their minds."

Ian McShane recently starred on "Ray Donovan" and appeared on "American Horror Story: Asylum". His movie credits included "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides", "Snow White and the Huntsman", "Hercules", and "John Wick" among others.
