'Amazing Spider-Man' Director Marc Webb Weighs in on Marvel's New Reboot
Movie

Marc is 'really excited to see' the new Spidey reboot directed by Jon Watts, but 'it's sad a little bit to surrender ['The Amazing Spider-Man'] in a way.'

AceShowbiz - "The Amazing Spider-Man" film series director Marc Webb has reacted for the first time to Marvel's Spidey reboot. Speaking to MTV News when promoting his new TV show "Limitless" at San Diego Comic-Con, Marc was asked about his perspective about the untitled new Spider-Man movie.

"I'm really psyched that Spider-Man is going back to the Marvel universe, I'm really excited to see that incarnation," the "500 Days of Summer" director said, "And Jon Watts is directing it, I knew him from the old music video days and he'd done some really fantastic music videos so it's super exciting."

"It's sad a little bit to surrender that in a way," he continued, "But it's as it must be I guess. I think there's a huge capacity for reinvention within the realm of the Spider-Man universe... there's a lot of different way so interpret that character... so I'm curious to see how that evolves."

Marc, however, still stands by his version of Spider-Man movie. "Those films were my own films," he explained, "They were very personal. A lot of people put a lot of effort into them - and Andrew and Emma and I, the producers worked very hard on them... it was a really rewarding experience in many ways. The reality is I don't know a lot of what went on. I had heard that it was gonna go back to Marvel and that made me curious to see what was going to unfold."

When asked if he would ever return to the Spider-Man franchise, Marc replied, "Who knows? Never say never."
