Following Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's divorce announcement, speculations about what triggered their split are circulating in public, starting from Ben's bad habits to his cheating rumor with ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. Recently, a source close to the pair told PEOPLE that their split was partly caused by Jen who said that Ben was "not good enough."

"When you're told you're not good enough, you start to believe it," said the source of Ben. "Then where does that leave you as a couple?" Unfortunately, instead of improving himself, the 42-year-actor had a hard time to meet Jen's expectation of him as a husband. "It is very tough. It wears on you. He couldn't deal with her expectations. Part of why this happened is her being controlling and unhappy," the source added.

On the other hand, Jen's friend argued that the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" actor didn't understand what made a successful marriage. "He underestimated the work that marriage requires," a friend of Jen said. "And once he realized it, he wasn't interested in it."

Despite the celebrity couple's decision to divorce, they strongly believe that their children have to be put first. As earlier reported, the two will remain to live in the same property, though not in the same house, in L.A. to co-parent their children. "It's nice to at least try to move in a positive direction with your life," the source close to both said. "It's not happy, it's not easy, but it's nice to look forward and see that this all can work and keep moving forward that way."
