Damian Lewis Tipped to Become the Next James Bond
Movie

The 'Homeland' actor is being heavily tipped to portray the next superspy after bookmakers cut his odds following a flurry of £200 bets.

Damian Lewis has become a frontrunner to take part in the next James Bond movie. Recent news said that the "Homeland" star's being tipped to replace Daniel Craig as the new fictional suave spy after bookmakers slashed its odds on the actor following a flurry of bets.

William Hill revealed that Lewis' price collapsed from an outsider 25/1 to near-favorite 3/1. "This is an unprecedented gamble, as for no apparent reason we have seen bets of up to £200 on Damian Lewis being named as the next Bond. This might well be significant," William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams told The Telegraph.

Paddy Power also cut the odds on Lewis from 20/1 to 5/2. A spokesman said, "As the spectre of Daniel Craig disappears into the distance, it looks as though Lewis will be the next man with the golden gun."

Meanwhile, Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said, "The gamble on Lewis has developed out of no where and with such serious pace we've been forced to cut his odds all the way down into favouritism."

Other actors rumored to be the next James Bond are Idris Elba, who has long been tipped as the most likely actor to take on the role, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

The upcoming James Bond movie, "Spectre", which still features Craig as James Bond, is currently filming in Rome and Mexico. Craig has portrayed the suave spy since 2006 in three previous movies including "Casino Royale", "Quantum of Solace" and "Skyfall". Directed by Sam Mendes, "Spectre" is slated for a U.S. release on November 6.
