Marvel has narrowed down the list of the lead actor and director of 'Spider-Man' reboot, revealing two most possible directors and actors who will join the project.

AceShowbiz - Sony Pictures and Marvel have reportedly narrowed down the list of the lead actor and director for an untitled new Spider-Man Movie movie. According to Deadline, "Ender's Game" star Asa Butterfield and "The Impossible" star Tom Holland are the frontrunners to portray Peter Parker.

Although Butterfield and Holland are at the top of the actor list, Matt Lintz of the upcoming "Pixels" and "Red Band Society" actor Charlie Rowe are still in the running after they were screen-tested for the leading role over the weekend.

As for the director post, Ted Melfi ("St. Vincent") and Jonathan Levine ("Warm Bodies") are said as the most favorite directors to take the job. Still in contention are John Francis Daley, Jonathan M. Goldstein, and the newly-mentioned director Jon Watts ("Cop Car"). The best among the candidates on the list will be chosen to join the project, and the final decision comes down to producers Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige, as well as Sony Pictures chief Tom Rothman.

The "Spider-Man" reboot is scheduled for a U.S. release on July 28, 2017. The film centers on Parker in his high school years. In the upcoming movie, he has already been bitten by the radioactive spider so his origin story won't be addressed again.
