Fox 2000 has a new adaptation of Young Adult novel on the way. The studio is currently developing "Love Letters to the Dead", with Catherine Hardwicke, who directed "Twilight", in early talks to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is based on Ava Dellaira's Young Adult novel of the same title which centers on a character named Laurel, who writes a letter to a dead person, Kurt Cobain, for her English assignment. Soon, Laurel has a notebook full of letters to famous people like Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Amelia Earhart and Heath Ledger, though she never gives a single one of them to her teacher. In these letters, she shares her own experiences about starting high school, figuring out friendships and falling in love for the first time. She also writes about the abuse she suffered and the death of her sister, May.

The movie reteams Hardwicke with Temple Hill Entertainment, a production company she teamed up with for "Twilight". Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey who also produced the "Twilight" series are producing "Love Letters to the Dead". Bowen and Godfrey's recent projects include the adaptation of John Green's "The Fault in Our Stars", "The Maze Runner" franchise, and "Paper Towns".

Hardwicke is currently putting finishing touch on her film "Miss You Already", starring Drew Barrymore, Toni Collette and Dominic Cooper.
