Sandra Lee Discharged From Hospital After Double Mastectomy

The Food Network star was released from hospital on Monday following breast cancer surgery and returned to Mount Kisco home which she shares with her beau.

AceShowbiz - Sandra Lee was discharged from hospital on Monday, May 25 after undergoing double mastectomy for her breast cancer last week. The Food Network star said she was "so happy" to return to her Mount Kisco home in New Castle which she shared with her longtime beau Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Sandra underwent the breast cancer surgery last week after she was diagnosed with the disease back in March. Prior to double mastectomy, the celebrity chef had underwent a lumpectomy. Her doctor also told her to have daily radiation therapy for six to eight weeks.

In the morning of the day, Sandra's team announced on Facebook that she was returning home. "Today is an exciting day! Sandra is going home to Lily Pond with her sister Kimber and Governor Cuomo," so the message read alongside a snap of Sandra and Kimber. "She is most excited to sleep in her own bed - and see Phoenix and Halo when she wakes up!"

Later, as Sandra arrived at her home that she and Andrew called Lily Pond, she posted via Facebook a snap of her posing with Andrew and one of their pet birds, a white umbrella cackatoo named Phoenix. "Home after a long week in the hospital, so happy to be in my own backyard. There is no place like home! #HappyMemorialDay," so she wrote.

Before leaving the hospital, Sandra told fans about her emotional and physical struggle following the surgery. "I've lost about 15 lbs. in five days, and not just my boobs," she said in a video posted on Facebook. "It's just a lot of drugs, and it's a lot of nausea, and I just don't feel very good, but I'm going to get better."
