"Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce" garnered many positive reaction from fans after it aired earlier this week. A source close to the Kardashians claimed that the special episode left the famous family feeling thankful for all support from fans around the world.

"They are all relieved and so overwhelmed by the positive reaction from the public," the source told E! News. "The girls have come a long way since the special was taped, but having it air was therapeutic."

The Bruce Jenner special was filmed in April, two weeks before the Olympic gold medalist announced that he was transitioning from a man to a woman in an interview with Diane Sawyer. Aired on Sunday, May 17 and Monday, May 18, the special episode featured the journey of Bruce's gender transformation and intimate discussion about the change between him and his family.

"It was on a Sunday and Bruce out of the blue called Kris and said he was coming over," another source said, addressing behind-the-scene process of the emotional episode. "There wasn't the usual 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' crew available, so in order to document their talk, they hustled to get a camera and sound guy they've been working with for years, who are like part of the family."

In one part of the special episode, Bruce told his estranged wife Kris Jenner that the transition didn't mean he just threw away all the old memories with her. "We raised amazing children and those memories will live inside me forever," Bruce told Kris. "And I will continue to have more of those wonderful, wonderful memories. And I just want to get through this and do the best damn job of not hurting anybody, and that includes you."

Kris replied, "I just want you to know that you were a great dad, you were a great friend, and you were a great partner. At the end of the day, it's not about my feelings. It's about you and I just want you to be happy."
