Tom Hardy recalled memory of his dark past when he was battling drugs and alcohol. In a new interview with Essential magazine (via Metro U.K.), the "Mad Max: Fury Road" actor revealed that he would have "sold" her mother for crack when he was a drug user.

"I was a shameful suburban statistic. I was told very clearly, 'You go down that road, Tom, you won't come back,' " Hardy recounted. "That message stayed with me clearly for the rest of my days. I am f***ing lucky to be here. I would have sold my mother for a rock of crack."

Hardy garnered his success as an actor after quitting drugs in 2003. He starred in some movies that included "The Dark Knight Rises", "The Drop" and "Child 44" just to mention a few. He then was famous for his "tough guy" roles, but he admitted that the real Hardy was different from what people saw on the screen.

"The trouble with Hollywood is they want you to be something, then they think you're who they wanted you to be," Hardy told the magazine. "I'm not a fighter. I'm a petite little bourgeois boy from London. People didn't sit up and take any notice of me until I started putting on weight, kicking people and being aggressive."

Hardy married Charlotte Riley in 2014. He said that he was very lucky to marry her since she was a very patient person. "My wife is an actor, so she sort of gets it. She's just a very kind person. I'm very lucky," so he said of Riley.
