Jeremy Renner seems unapologetic about his and Chris Evans' controversial Black Widow joke. The 44-year-old actor apologized for the joke two weeks ago but he defended his comments during an appearance on "CONAN" on Monday night, May 4.

"Yeah, it was a joke, off-collared or whatever, but yeah, I'm apologetic about a lot of things. But yeah, I got in a lot of Internet trouble. I guess that's a thing now," the Hawkeye of "The Avengers" told Conan O'Brien.

Jeremy then explained the joke he made during an interview with DigitalSpy back in April. "So I was asked the question, 'Black Widow has been linked to Hawkeye, Iron Man, Bruce Banner and Captain America, so what do you think about that?' " he shared, "And I said, 'Well, sounds like she's a slut.' "

He pointed out that Black Widow behavior would make anyone slut. "Now, mind you, I'm talking about a fictional character and fictional behavior, but Conan, if you slept with four of the six Avengers, no matter how much fun you had, you'd be a slut. Just saying. I'd be a slut," he said.

Conan then asked him whom he thought Black Widow was most attracted to now. "I don't know, man. We're talking about fictional characters. Maybe it's the Hulk. She's into the Hulk now," he replied.

Jeremy and Chris previously issued apology through their reps after they called Black Widow a "slut" and a "whore." Jeremy said, "I am sorry that this tasteless joke about a fictional character offended anyone. It was not meant to be serious in any way. Just poking fun during an exhausting and tedious press tour." Chris, meanwhile, said, "Yesterday [Jeremy and I] were asked about the rumors that Black Widow wanted to be in a relationship with both Hawkeye and Captain America. We answered in a juvenile and offensive way that rightfully angered some fans. I regret it and sincerely apologize."
