'Star Wars' Spin-Off Delayed Until 2019 After Josh Trank's Departure
Movie

The second 'Star Wars' stand-alone movie was originally scheduled to make its way out in 2018 but it's now reportedly moved back to the following year.

The second "Star Wars" spin-off has been postponed a year from the original 2018 release to 2019, Variety learns. The rumor emerges after director Josh Trank left the project citing his desire to "pursue some original creative opportunities."

Trank was reportedly fired from "Star Wars" after people at Disney and Lucasfilm heard he was "erratic" and sometimes "very isolated" while filming "The Fantastic Four". Due to those issues, producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker allegedly had to step in to "pull the film together."

The "Chronicle" helmer hasn't responded to the rumor, but a spokesman for 21st Century Fox insists the studio is "very happy with the movie and we can't wait for audiences to see it." They, however, acknowledge "there were definitely some bumps in the road."
