Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner confirms that Akiva Goldsman is tapped to develop multi-sequels and spin-offs that share universe with the existing 'Transformers' movies.

AceShowbiz - The next "Transformers" movie is plotted for 2017. Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner reveals it during a 2015 Q1 Earnings Conference Call during which he also confirms rumor that Akiva Goldsman is indeed hired to build a larger Avengers-style cinematic universe based on the toy line with multi-sequels and spin-offs among the outputs.

"Our plan with the studio and filmakers you may have heard some writers being hired and we have in fact brought in Akiva Goldsman to lead a group of writers to really create a strategic plan around Transformers," he said as quoted by TFW2005. "We think there are any number of stories to be told from the brand that has been around for 30 years with amazing canon and mythology. We would expect the sequel to the Transformers movie [TF4] to happen in 2017."

The last film "Transformers: Age of Extinction" was released last year with Mark Wahlberg as a new male lead, replacing Shia LaBeouf. It became the first film in 2014 to hit $1 billion mark despite little critical praise. The "Ted 2" actor is expected to reprise his role for "Transformers 5".
