AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie and husband Brad Pitt are planning to adopt a child from Syria, reports say. According to The Daily Express, the couple wants to adopt an orphan girl from Syria as their 7th child.
Jolie and Pitt already have six children, three biological including 8-year-old Shiloh and 6-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, and three adopted which are 13-year-old Cambodian, Maddox, 11-year-old Vietnamese, Pax, and 10-year-old Ethiopian, Zahara.
The idea to adopt a child from Syria reportedly emerged because of Angelina's many visits to the war-torn country. She has made at least six visits to Syrian refugee camps since 2012 in her role as a special envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
A business associate, who has known Brad and Angelina for more than a decade, said, "She has been moved to tears on several occasions over the plight of youngsters orphaned in the Syrian conflict."
The "Maleficent" actress underwent surgery to remove her fallopian tube and ovaries in March 2015. The operation is meant to reduce risk of developing cancer since she carries a defective BRCA1 gene from her mother who died from cancer in 2007. It is said that Jolie will adopt the child after the health setback she had. "Now she has sorted out her health issues, she and Brad believe the time is right to adopt another orphan from there, most likely a daughter," a source said.
Responding to the issue, one of the pair's pals said, "This is something that has become very close to their hearts. They would like to accomplish it, if possible, before the end of summer because, even though they are both busy, their diaries are relatively light for most of 2015."
However, Pitt's rep denies that they are planning to adopt a child in Syria while Angelina's representative gives no immediate response regarding the issue.
