Will Forte's journey in post-apocalyptic world isn't going to be over soon. His new comedy "The Last Man on Earth" has been renewed for a 13-episode season 2 by FOX. The new episodes will air in 2015-2016 broadcast season.

"We knew we had something special with 'The Last Man on Earth'," said Fox Broadcasting Company entertainment president David Madden. "It's one of those rare shows that continues to add depth and dimension to its unique premise, week after week. We are so thrilled that this incredibly bold, original and inventive series has been embraced by both fans and critics, and we cannot wait to see where the creative genius and inspired vision of Will, Phil and Chris take us in season two."

"Last Man on Earth" is starring and written by "Saturday Night Live" alum Will Forte, who also executive produces the series along with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Seth Cohen. Debuting to 5.7 million viewers and a 2.3 in the coveted 18-49 demographic, it ranks as this season's No. 1 new comedy among adults 18-34 and men 18-49. It averages a 3.3 rating among adults 18-49 and 7.6 million viewers so far.

The freshman joins other comedies, "New Girl" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", which have also been ordered for new seasons by the network.
