Director Confirms Hugh Jackman's Final Wolverine Appearance

James Mangold gives a hint that Hugh Jackman will play Wolverine one last time in the upcoming movie he will direct for 2017 release.
When Hugh Jackman announced his imminent departure from "X-Men" franchise, it's not known if he would take a bow with "X-Men: Apocalypse" or "The Wolverine 3". Now it becomes clear that he will save his last performance as the clawed mutant for the third Wolverine flick due 2017.

"WOLVERINE ...ONE LAST TIME. HJ," the Australian actor previously wrote on Instagram along with a picture of his adamantium claws. James Mangold who will direct the third "Wolverine" film later chimed in on Twitter, "Can't wait to make this, HJ! Been toiling quietly a while now!"

Jackman has hinted at his exit since last year ahead of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" where his character became a key player. He said back then that when the day finally came for him to depart, he would love to see Wolverine getting rebooted rather than recast.

Earlier this month, Jennifer Lawrence also said her days as Mystique were numbered ultimately killing rumor about a potential standalone movie. She suggested she would exit the franchise after portraying the blue-skinned mutant one last time in the upcoming "Apocalypse".

The film will be released on May 27, 2016. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and Evan Peters are set to return as Prof. X, Magneto, Beast, and Quicksilver respectively. They are joined by new faces like Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, and Lana Condor who are cast as younger Jean Grey, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Storm, and Jubilee respectively.

Fox is also reportedly casting Psylocke. On top of that, Channing Tatum is rumored to make his debut as Gambit before the character gets his own solo film on October 7, 2016.
