It's unclear if he will make his final appearance as the clawed superhero in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" which will begin production soon for May 27, 2016 release or save it for James Mangold's "The Wolverine 3" which is due March 3, 2017.

Last year ahead of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" where his character became a key player, Jackman also hinted at leaving "X-Men". He said back then that when the day finally came for him to depart, he would love to see Wolverine getting rebooted rather than recast.

Earlier this month, Jennifer Lawrence also said her days as Mystique were numbered ultimately killing rumor about a potential standalone movie. She suggested she would exit the franchise after portraying the blue-skinned mutant one last time in the upcoming "Apocalypse".

As the two actors reveal plan to retire their fan-favorite characters, "X-Men" continues to add new faces for the next installment. Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, and Lana Condor have been cast as younger Jean Grey, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Storm, and Jubilee respectively. Fox is also reportedly casting Psylocke.

They will join returning cast like James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, and Evan Peters who are back as Prof. X, Magneto, Beast, and Quicksilver respectively. On top of that, Channing Tatum is reported to make his debut as Gambit before the character gets his own solo film on October 7, 2016.
