Unlike the version played by Michael Chiklis in the previous film, Bell's The Thing will be brought to life with CGI in the upcoming movie. Miles Teller plays Reed Richards or Mr. Fantastic, Michael B. Jordan is cast as Johnny Storm a.k.a. Human Torch, and Kate Mara plays Sue Storm a.k.a. Invisible Woman.

The reboot project is described as a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team. It centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

Josh Trank serves as director with the script provided by Simon Kinberg. It is due out in theaters across the nation on August 7.
