Although it's unlikely for Will Smith to reprise his role for the 'Independence Day' sequel, his on-screen love interest is set to return for the next installment.

AceShowbiz - Another original "Independence Day" cast joins the sequel. Vivica A. Fox who played the love interest to Will Smith's Steven Hiller in the first film is announced by director Roland Emmerich that she will return for the upcoming second installment.
"Exciting news... just officially closed @MsVivicaFox for #IndependenceDay!" the helmer tweeted along with a picture of them together. The actress replied, "@rolandemmerich I am so excited n blessed 2 be part of this journey w u again! U opened the doors 2 my career! Luv u much #TeamVivica ;)"

Fox will join Jeff Goldblum who is expected to reprise his role as computer expert David Levinson, Liam Hemsworth is added as the son-in-law of Bill Pullman's President Thomas J. Whitmore, and Jessie Usher as the son of Smith's Hiller. "Nymphomaniac" actress Charlotte Gainsbourg is also in talks to star in the sequel which is plotted for June 24, 2016.
