Josh Gad is added to the cast ensemble of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast (2017)". The Hollywood Reporter learns that the actor is in final talks to join previously-confirmed cast Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, and Luke Evans in the Bill Condon-directed live-action take on the classic tale.

The story centers on a young woman who takes her father's place as a prisoner in a monstrous being's castle, only to fall in love with the creature. Watson plays the titular Beauty, Stevens portrays the Beast, Evans is cast as the villainous Gaston, and Gad will star as his buffoonish sidekick LeFou.

Watson will show off her vocal chops. "I sing, so that's really unexpected. I've never had to do that for a film role before, and I think people will be interested to see me do something very different like that. It gives me a different challenge, really. That's terrifying in and of itself!" she tells Total Film.
