Giorgio Armani Blames 'Very Difficult' Madonna After Singer Fell at BRIT Awards

Armani, who designed the cape worn by Madge when she fell onstage during the awards show last week, says the embarrassing incident happened because of the singer herself.

AceShowbiz - Madonna took a nasty fall during her performance at the BRIT Awards last week. The singer then blamed the embarrassing and painful incident on the cape that she claimed was tied too tight around her neck.

The cape's designer Giorgio Armani has now defended his creation, saying the whole thing was Madge's own fault. "Madonna, as we know, is very difficult," the designer said in an interview with Associated Press. "This cape had a hook and she wanted a tie, and she wasn't able to open it with her hands. That's all there is to it."

At last week's BRITs, Madge was performing her single "Living for Love" on a platform when one of her dancers pulled the cape. Things, however, didn't go as planned as the cape failed to come off. The iconic diva fell and hit the ground pretty hard.

After the incident, she posted an illustration of the cape on her Instagram account and told her followers she was okay. "Armani hooked me up! My beautiful cape was tied too tight!" she wrote, before adding, "I'm fine!"

She shared more details on the cape as she appeared on the U.K.'s "The Jonathan Ross Show". "Everybody was worried that my cape was going to slide off because it's quite heavy, so they tied it really tight around my neck," she explained.

"So here I am marching in like a queen, and I got to the top of the stairs and I pulled my silky string, and it would not come undone," she continued. "And my two lovely Japanese dancers basically strangled me off the stage. I had a choice: I could either be strangled or fall with the cape, and I fell."
