Flockhart's Cat Grant is described as 'a self-made media magnate and founder of CatCo who started her career as a reporter and has built her company into a global powerhouse'.

AceShowbiz - Taking a break from TV following the end of ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" back in 2011, Calista Flockhart is making a return to small screen with a starring role on CBS' pilot "Supergirl". The 50-year-old actress has been cast to portray the role of Cat Grant.

Her character is described as "a self-made media magnate and founder of CatCo who started her career as a reporter and has built her company into a global powerhouse." The pilot itself will follow the story of Melissa Benoist's Kara Zor-El a.k.a. Supergirl, who is a Krypton-born and has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman. She eventually decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she's always meant to be. Kara works as assistant to Grant.

"Supergirl" will reunite Flockhart with executive producer Greg Berlanti, who worked with her on "Brothers & Sisters". Other cast of the series as well as airing date have not yet been announced.

Flockhart recently guest-starred in two episodes of Showtime's comedy series "Web Therapy". She could next be seen starring on season 2 of DirecTV's anthology show "Full Circle".
