Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios have announced partnership which will see Spider-Man joining the Marvel cinematic universe. News of the exciting deal was officially shared by Marvel in a statement on Monday, February 9. Under the terms, Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel movie, possibly "Captain America: Civil War", before getting his untitled new Spider-Man movie which is set for release on July 28, 2017.

Calling the upcoming project "the new Spider-Man", the companies announced it would be produced by Kevin Feige and his team as well as Amy Pascal. "I am thrilled to team with my friends at Sony Pictures along with Amy Pascal to produce the next Spider-Man movie," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in a statement.

"Amy has been deeply involved in the realization on film of one of the world's most beloved characters. Marvel's involvement will hopefully deliver the creative continuity and authenticity that fans demand from the MCU. I am equally excited for the opportunity to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, something which both we at Marvel, and fans alike, have been looking forward to for years."

"Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films," it continued.

In the statement, there is no mention of Andrew Garfield who plays the web slinger in "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". However, it is reported that there will be someone who replaces him.

In the wake of the partnership news, some Marvel movies are rescheduled to accommodate "Spider-Man". "Thor: Ragnarok" is now set to arrive in U.S. theaters on November 3, 2017. "Black Panther", which was supposed to come out on that date, is now taking July 6, 2018 slot which originally was set for "Captain Marvel". The female-led superhero movie is now scheduled to arrive on November 2, 2018. "Inhumans" is now taking a July 12, 2019 release date.
