The Australia-born singer debuts the summery and beachy track as a preview of his new album, which he's currently working on independently following his split from Atlantic Records.

AceShowbiz - Cody Simpson has returned with a new song. The Australian singer, who is now an independent artist following his split from Atlantic, premiered on Wednesday, February 4 the summery and beachy "Flower" as a preview of his new album, aptly titled "Free".

For the song, Simpson enlisted pal Miley Cyrus to design its cover art. The former Disney star simply took a picture of an almost-dead daisy from her living room. "I shot it on some Polaroids, and then instead of complicating things, I said f**k it, I'm just going to shoot this s**t on an iPhone," she explained in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

"I just wanted something where people didn't have a stereotypical idea of what he was and could just look at the song for what it is, because it's a f**king epic song," she added.

Simpson has been working on his "Free" album with Cisco Adler in Malibu. The 18-year-old star is hoping to put out his new LP before summer.

Now that he's working hard on his new music, he had no time for his joint album with former tourmate Justin Bieber. Initially planned to arrive late last year, the collaborative effort is now "no longer slated to be released anytime soon."
