Sean Penn shows his commitment to actress girlfriend Charlize Theron by moving to adopt her 3-year-old son Jackson. The actor has reportedly filed paperwork requesting to become the adopted father to the little boy.
This fuels rumor that a wedding is imminent between Penn, 54, and Theron, 39. The couple has been dating for over a year and has been the center of engagement rumors over the past few months, which they never addressed.
"Charlize and Sean are very serious," a source close to the "Snow White and the Huntsman" star tells PEOPLE. "Charlize says this is it. Jackson already calls Sean daddy. This is the first step toward them getting married."
Jackson was adopted by Theron in 2012 when he was 4 months old. He is her only child. Penn, meanwhile, has a daughter, Dylan, 23, and a son, Hopper, 21, from his marriage to Robin Wright. He has no child from his first marriage to Madonna.
