AceShowbiz - Gearing up to kick off the new season, "The Amazing Race" has announced the cast for its 26th edition. As revealed before, the contestants include 11 dating couples, six of whom are already in a relationship, while the other five will meet for the very first time at the starting line when they are set up on "the most extreme blind date ever."
The preexisting dating couples include New Kids on the Block's member Jonathan Knight & his partner Harley Rodriguez, as well as Olympic medalists Aly Dudek and Steven Langton. The newly paired contestants include a Vegas showgirl, two lawyers and a pageant consultant among others.
"Usually we have people who know each other really well. In this particular case we have five blind dates and six regular dates," said Bertram van Munster, co-creator and executive producer of the reality competition series. "Going on a blind date to a restaurant is one thing, but going on a blind date around the world is like rolling the dice in a big way."
The 11 teams will be racing around the world to win the $1 million dollar prize. Morevoer, they can win the new Date Night" reward throughout the race which offers them a chance to enjoy a romantic activity like a night at a hot springs resort in Nagano, Japan, or star-gazing at the Bavarian Public Observatory in Munich, Germany.
The new installment of "Amazing Race" kicks off Wednesday, February 25 at 9:30 P.M. before moving to its regular time period starting Friday, February 27 at 8 P.M. on CBS.
